2011 Quick Review

I noticed that my last post in this page is almost a year ago. Bleh. I can't keep my promise to update this blog frequently. And indeed time really flies. Just by re-reading my last post & notice the picture I realized that many things are changed, such as:

Moving to better place
The picture in last post was taken in my previous place, which I have to leave due to security reason.
Now I moved to a small room in a better place, sharing living room and bath room with other girls, under one roof with the owner (we call her "Bu Haji"), but the most important thing is I feel secure living in here. Well, there is some bad news like the room is only 1/3 size my previous place, and my boyfie can only visit me in the veranda (haha!) but I can manage that.

No book
Since I bring my laptop home I never have a chance (read: wanted) to read any book at all. I brought a lot of DVDs and downloaded series so I watched them almost every night. This become a serious-dangerous habit for me cuz I can't sleep early and then I late for work. It started with Fringe, and then Running Man K-variety show, Criminal Minds, Modern Family, and The Mentalist. Luckily I have enough space to store them all :p
Less Coffee
Maybe you think it was good but it is not because I replace coffee with other sweet drinks. I don't know when it started but everyday I consume two or three bottles of chocolate milk, or lemon tea, or juice. I know it is not healthy because they contain preservatives and artificial sweeteners but I can't help my self buying it from the store.

Talking about changes in last year, I'd like to do a quick-review about my last year resolutions/wishlist :D
1. Boots -- I still not buying them, FAILED
2. Stay As Neat As Possible -- I still don't do ironing, so FAILED
3. Less Skin -- DONE
4. LBD -- I buy some dress but it's not particularly Black, so I considered this is FAILED
5. Less Skirt -- DONE
6. More Time with Heels -- I still wearing them only in wedding reception, so FAILED

No suprised. When I get succeed with my resolutions? :/
That's a wrap. I hope I'll write again any soon :D

Sunday Afternoon

Have you ever feel like you fed up with works, you really needs a day off and when the holiday comes, you wish you have many things to do?
All day yesterday is mine myself. But after wake up late at noon and don't want to go anywhere, I almost ended up with boringness until late night. So I took an afternoon walk surrounding my place to take some pics but none of the objects was interesting (or maybe I didn't have the talent to be a photographer). It ain't that fun for Sunday afternoon walk , not in sub urb like the area I'm living today. Next thing I know I was trapped in my 3x6 metre square room, with these great stuffs to cheer my mood.
Ah...and I forgot this blog supposed to be talked about fashion. Well, I insist to say that I spent my Sunday afternoon in fashion.

Smart Shopper

Who doesn't love shopping? Since I wasn't a billionaire or stars that being endorsed by branded clothing, smart shopping is a must strategy for me. Usually I had a hard bargaining on local vendors like ITC (anywhere) or Pasar Baru (Bandung) to get best price for items that I wanted. On modern department store or branded retail store, I only buy discounted branded items, because the normal price is usually not acceptable for me.
But you know, sometimes they held the Big Sale on the wrong time. Either I already waste my money for other things, or the Sale only held in very short period time, I often missed the chance shopping on those promising event. Once I got the chance, the Sale is already over. Sigh.
I had a friend who loves branded items, and recently she can bought them at very low prices! Last week she bought a pair of Nine West pump for less than 350.000 rupiahs (about $35, normal price $69). For me, it's still a bit expensive, though...but for a pair of stunning boots, I think I won't hesitate to buy it on the first sight. By the way, she can get those pumps within the price after she become member of this discount club. Only for 120.000 rupiahs, she can get up to 70% on branded items, for 3 years membership. Cool!!!
Here is the lovely pumps:

Fashion Resolutions/Wishlist 2011

Happy New Year, readers!!! (*what calendar in your room, girl?)
Such a bad blogger. I was ignoring my blogs almost for a year. Yeah, blogs. Everytime I'm interest in something I create a blog with particular theme, but then again...I get bored easily, so last thing I know I have so many blogs without new entries. Sorry all my readers, for made you craving so long for new posts...
krik...krik...krik....
Hey...this is my own blog! Can't I pleasure myself thinking that a lot of readers out there loving my posts??? :D
Okay...I'll try to stop messing around. This time I just wanna speak up my resolutions on 2011. Or...my Re-resolutions (thinking those plans that failed on past few years). Since I started this blog as a fashion blog, so I tried to be focus here. So I make a fashion resolutions/wishlist this year:

1. Boots

Honestly, I think boots is the coolest footwear. I am ashamed that I never buy one. Whenever I almost did it, there always reasons that keep me from buying them. I always think twice when I face a captivating boots in a shoe store, off line or online...

'there is no winter in my country, it's not an urgent needs'......'they look good on me, but the accessories are ugly'......'hmm...how many times I will wear them in a week?'......'gosh, people will looking strange at me with this stunning boots, I feel horrible'......'what are my co-workers thinking if I'm wearing them to work some day? I'm not working on a fashion/lifestyle magazine'.....'they cost four times of my usual flats, but I will rarely wear it'...etc...
Ah, Confidence. My friends thought that I don't have problems with my confidence, but they are wrong. You could challenge me walking alone in the cemetery, or touching some disgusting animals, or you can debate me on my social/political opinion and I will defense with no hesitation. But to me, a stunning appearance in a boring society, or vice versa, is not comfortable at all. Well, actually a boring appearance in a stunning society still acceptable for me.
Since it is new year and I really want to get my-most-wanted-fashion-item, so I made FLAT-KNEE BOOTS as my main fashion wishlist on 2011. And whenever I get it, I'll try my best to wear it confidently, no need to think what others thinking...whether they like it or not, accept it!

2. Stay As Neat As Possible
I say 'as possible'. Because I know I was not born as the most neat person in the world, I'll try my best to give up my bad habit, which is throwing my shirt once I come my place after work. I guess it's okay if it's dirty shirts, I can pick up anytime and washing them afterwards. But most of the times it's not dirty at all, and I was going to wear it again on a different day before it get washed. Maybe it looks disgusting for some people. But for me who is lazy on washing clothes, and barely get problems with body odor, it is the perfect way to wear the outfits, on the top of that it saves water.
Well, what I want to tell is not the fact that I wear shirts twice before it gets washed, but how lazy I am ironing them. Sometimes I felt ironing is a useless housekeeping, because one with a very neat shirt will found their shirt rumpled an hour or two later.
But since I realized people often find my morning appearance as if I was sleeping with my shirt on, so I'll try to iron my clean shirt everyday. Wish me luck :(

3. Less Skin
Even I live in the heat of Jakarta, I'm not used to wear sunblock. Outside my place, I almost always be in places with Air Con. In the work place, car, busway, meeting rooms, oh there are always freezing Air Con all around! People here loves Air Con, while I am comfortable with 24-25 ºC, they set the Air Con under 22 ºC.

It freezes my brain, it affects bad to the skin, and it feels so cold for me. I usually wear my jacket, sweater, or at least a warm cardigan to work. People always asking whether I was having a cold or something, and it didn't feel good for me to wear sweater during meeting with clients. So I think I should buy more long-sleeved shirts from now on.

4. LBD
People said Little Black Dress is a must have item. It is simple and timeless, you don't have to worry it is out of date. Yay! Looking at my collection, there are brown, and other dark colours but I haven't got a black one. So I will have at least one LBD this year, and various accessories will create different looks. With the right accessories, I guess it's acceptable if I wear it on wedding receptions nowadays :p

5. Less Skirt
Actually I'm not a feminin nor girly person, but I wear skirts more often than pants to work. The thing is, it's hard for me to keep my waist size. I can wear the same skirt on the waistline, or under the waist ine, depend on my often-changed size.
For pants, it has to be on the perfect size. I bought pants that fit my waist, but two or three weeks later it's not fit with me anymore. Of course I can't wear size 29 pants when my waist size is going 30. It is still acceptable wearing size 30 if my waistline back to size 29, but most pants I have didn't have belt loops. So it looks funny when I wear bigger pants than my size (yeah, you can imagine I keep pulling up on my pants whenever it falls down under my waistline).
Still, I'm more comfortable wearing pants instead of skirts. Moreover, currently I think my legs are more hairy since last year. I'm not sure why it happened, but I think it related to a particular brand of body lotion that I wear some time ago. And I don't do waxing. Shaving your armpit hair and bikini area is a must, but having hair removal from legs or arms are out of the question.
Shaving or waxing the hairy legs or arms must be a routine job, I can't stand the routinity, and I can't stand the pain either. So, this year I will wear pants more often instead of skirts. However, if I have to wear skirts on some occasions, I will wear stockings.

6. More Time with Heels
I wore high heels only on wedding receptions. I wear flats everyday, or low heels (3 to 5 cm) when meeting with clients. I even wear sandals in my office. I don't know how people look at me on high heels, but I feel awkward when wearing them.
Women my age usually start to wear heels since high school, few of them since junior high. I felt no use to wear them at such a young age, 'cause my height was above average when I was 12.
As I grow taller, I didn't feel the need to start learning to wear heels. At college I wear flats and sneakers, even my faculty was well-known because of the fashionable female students with latest fashion and wearing high heels during classes. Thank God most of my classmates loved flat shoes as much as I did, as flats are perfect accompanies for student with a bunch of activities.
Still, twenty something women need to know how to wear high heels perfectly. I agree it looks stunning on them. Indeed it looks a bit sexy, as long as they know how to wear them. Sometimes I see girls with 7 cm and above heels and they look so funny walking on their stilletos or pumps. I hope I didn't look like them, so this year I urge my self to wear high heels more. For a clumsy person like me, it may be difficult to wear them with perfect balance. But I believe practice makes perfect, so I will try my best to wear high heels as often as possible, until I get used to it and didn't feel awkward anymore. Watch me!

Stop forcing me to join Looklet!

My sister keep telling me that I should try to join Looklet.com. I already saw it at a glance when she was playing it, and I think...okay...you can choose the clothes you want, and then mix&match it with this and that, and then...what's so hot about that? Okay...I know that everyone there can participated in some contests and win something...but I wasn't sure that we could be the winner or at least chosen as nominee.

Why I was so skeptic? I share you my opinion here:
1. There are more than 250 thousand users joined Looklet, and I thought that number itself already shows us how small the chance to get attention among others who already joined & got popularity in this site.
2. It's an internationally contest, and for some reason, it's a bit hard for people that came from South East Asia to have themselves being a winner in such world contest. It's easier for us to see nominees from Europe or America continents rather than Asia. Example: it's very rare to see an Indonesian nominated for Top 10 Miss Universe, Miss World, etc.
3. The rules to enter the contest was: Looklet pick 20 nominees, and then the most liked nominees will get the first prize. If you get nominated, maybe because you are worth it. Means that your design is very outstanding.
If you get the first prize, your design might not be the best or the  (real) most favorite among all nominees' design. It needs extra effort , which is....you have to get vote from as many people to get your prize. And surely this effort will take much time. This is what I hate.

But somehow, yesterday I decided to join Looklet.com.

and I can't stop playing. Crap.

It reminds me that in my childhood, even I was boyish (and still, I think), I used to playing Barbie as well as any other teenage girls. The difference with Looklet is...in this site you can mix and match clothes that you don't have, you wish to have, or you may can't have!
You can practice to be a stylist there. Hm...I don't think I have a good sense as a stylist, and I don't ever dream about it, either. I prefer to design something. Well, I think Looklet can be one of my inspirations, and the other advantage was...I have something to write about for this blog :D
This is my looklet page, feel free to heart any looks that you love.
And this one is my first look:
What do you think?

A New Social Media

Guys, lately I can't write anything about fashion, so sorry :(
I spent much time in browsing for the right vacancies--I don't want another job wasting my time and skills anymore. Hope I can start a new career that is suitable for me :)

During my search, there's someone referred a new social media to me--it said you can get paid for the activities that you did everyday on Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace. Well, too soon to tell, since I just signed up an hour ago. But, it worth to try anyway. Click on the picture and let me know what you think :)

Have a good day, everyone!!!

Second chance to become an (Amateur) model

I spent my day with an old friend today, re-taking pictures of products for my online shop. These last 2 weeks I start to sell dresses with L & XL sizes but not much progress---I think because the pictures displayed were lousy. So I needed to re-publish more attractive pictures. The problem was who should be my models? It's not so easy to find one, who have curve body, and especially who are willing to get only a bowl of Bakso** in return? ^_^

So we both be the models. Yes, me involved. It's my second times someone make-over me for a single photo shoot, 'cuz I don't have a good make-up skill. Here's one of the result, the rest will be uploaded soon in my multiply.

The first time I had a similar photo session, was few years ago, when my friend wants to experiment a bit of the Ganguro's* stlye and apply it to me. But somehow it made me look like Erykah Badu instead Ganguro girl :D

Ganguro*: or "Black Face Girls" is an alternative fashion trend of blonde or orange hair and tanned skin among young Japanese women that peaked in popularity around the year 2000, but remains evident today. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ganguro.jpg)

Bakso** : is Indonesia term for meatballs, it served in a bowl, like soup, with noodles, beancurds (tofu), eggs, 'siomay'/steamed meat dumpling, and crispy wonton. It has a consistent homogeneous texture, and spices to it. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meatball)

Bakso Time!!!
