Happy New Year, readers!!! (*what calendar in your room, girl?)
Such a bad blogger. I was ignoring my blogs almost for a year. Yeah, blogs. Everytime I'm interest in something I create a blog with particular theme, but then again...I get bored easily, so last thing I know I have so many blogs without new entries. Sorry all my readers, for made you craving so long for new posts...
krik...krik...krik....
Hey...this is my own blog! Can't I pleasure myself thinking that a lot of readers out there loving my posts??? :D
Okay...I'll try to stop messing around. This time I just wanna speak up my resolutions on 2011. Or...my Re-resolutions (thinking those plans that failed on past few years). Since I started this blog as a fashion blog, so I tried to be focus here. So I make a fashion resolutions/wishlist this year:
1. Boots
Honestly, I think boots is the coolest footwear. I am ashamed that I never buy one. Whenever I almost did it, there always reasons that keep me from buying them. I always think twice when I face a captivating boots in a shoe store, off line or online...
'there is no winter in my country, it's not an urgent needs'......'they look good on me, but the accessories are ugly'......'hmm...how many times I will wear them in a week?'......'gosh, people will looking strange at me with this stunning boots, I feel horrible'......'what are my co-workers thinking if I'm wearing them to work some day? I'm not working on a fashion/lifestyle magazine'.....'they cost four times of my usual flats, but I will rarely wear it'...etc...
Ah, Confidence. My friends thought that I don't have problems with my confidence, but they are wrong. You could challenge me walking alone in the cemetery, or touching some disgusting animals, or you can debate me on my social/political opinion and I will defense with no hesitation. But to me, a stunning appearance in a boring society, or vice versa, is not comfortable at all. Well, actually a boring appearance in a stunning society still acceptable for me.
Since it is new year and I really want to get my-most-wanted-fashion-item, so I made FLAT-KNEE BOOTS as my main fashion wishlist on 2011. And whenever I get it, I'll try my best to wear it confidently, no need to think what others thinking...whether they like it or not, accept it!
2. Stay As Neat As Possible
I say 'as possible'. Because I know I was not born as the most neat person in the world, I'll try my best to give up my bad habit, which is throwing my shirt once I come my place after work. I guess it's okay if it's dirty shirts, I can pick up anytime and washing them afterwards. But most of the times it's not dirty at all, and I was going to wear it again on a different day before it get washed. Maybe it looks disgusting for some people. But for me who is lazy on washing clothes, and barely get problems with body odor, it is the perfect way to wear the outfits, on the top of that it saves water.
Well, what I want to tell is not the fact that I wear shirts twice before it gets washed, but how lazy I am ironing them. Sometimes I felt ironing is a useless housekeeping, because one with a very neat shirt will found their shirt rumpled an hour or two later.
But since I realized people often find my morning appearance as if I was sleeping with my shirt on, so I'll try to iron my clean shirt everyday. Wish me luck :(
3. Less Skin
Even I live in the heat of Jakarta, I'm not used to wear sunblock. Outside my place, I almost always be in places with Air Con. In the work place, car, busway, meeting rooms, oh there are always freezing Air Con all around! People here loves Air Con, while I am comfortable with 24-25 ºC, they set the Air Con under 22 ºC.
It freezes my brain, it affects bad to the skin, and it feels so cold for me. I usually wear my jacket, sweater, or at least a warm cardigan to work. People always asking whether I was having a cold or something, and it didn't feel good for me to wear sweater during meeting with clients. So I think I should buy more long-sleeved shirts from now on.
4. LBD
People said Little Black Dress is a must have item. It is simple and timeless, you don't have to worry it is out of date. Yay! Looking at my collection, there are brown, and other dark colours but I haven't got a black one. So I will have at least one LBD this year, and various accessories will create different looks. With the right accessories, I guess it's acceptable if I wear it on wedding receptions nowadays :p
5. Less Skirt
Actually I'm not a feminin nor girly person, but I wear skirts more often than pants to work. The thing is, it's hard for me to keep my waist size. I can wear the same skirt on the waistline, or under the waist ine, depend on my often-changed size.
For pants, it has to be on the perfect size. I bought pants that fit my waist, but two or three weeks later it's not fit with me anymore. Of course I can't wear size 29 pants when my waist size is going 30. It is still acceptable wearing size 30 if my waistline back to size 29, but most pants I have didn't have belt loops. So it looks funny when I wear bigger pants than my size (yeah, you can imagine I keep pulling up on my pants whenever it falls down under my waistline).
Still, I'm more comfortable wearing pants instead of skirts. Moreover, currently I think my legs are more hairy since last year. I'm not sure why it happened, but I think it related to a particular brand of body lotion that I wear some time ago. And I don't do waxing. Shaving your armpit hair and bikini area is a must, but having hair removal from legs or arms are out of the question.
Shaving or waxing the hairy legs or arms must be a routine job, I can't stand the routinity, and I can't stand the pain either. So, this year I will wear pants more often instead of skirts. However, if I have to wear skirts on some occasions, I will wear stockings.
6. More Time with Heels
I wore high heels only on wedding receptions. I wear flats everyday, or low heels (3 to 5 cm) when meeting with clients. I even wear sandals in my office. I don't know how people look at me on high heels, but I feel awkward when wearing them.
Women my age usually start to wear heels since high school, few of them since junior high. I felt no use to wear them at such a young age, 'cause my height was above average when I was 12.
As I grow taller, I didn't feel the need to start learning to wear heels. At college I wear flats and sneakers, even my faculty was well-known because of the fashionable female students with latest fashion and wearing high heels during classes. Thank God most of my classmates loved flat shoes as much as I did, as flats are perfect accompanies for student with a bunch of activities.
Still, twenty something women need to know how to wear high heels perfectly. I agree it looks stunning on them. Indeed it looks a bit sexy, as long as they know how to wear them. Sometimes I see girls with 7 cm and above heels and they look so funny walking on their stilletos or pumps. I hope I didn't look like them, so this year I urge my self to wear high heels more. For a clumsy person like me, it may be difficult to wear them with perfect balance. But I believe practice makes perfect, so I will try my best to wear high heels as often as possible, until I get used to it and didn't feel awkward anymore. Watch me!
